A vibrant, independent school in South Bristol offers a nurturing, supportive environment for students who have experienced challenges in their educational journey. Team Educate are currently seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher with SEN experience to support them.
About the Role:
As a Science Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and accessible science lessons to students in year 7 – 11. Many of the students have a range of complex needs, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges, experienced educational trauma and been out of education for significant periods of time.
This role is not just about delivering curriculum content – it’s about fostering a safe and supportive environment where students can rebuild trust in their education and in themselves. Your ability to form strong, empathetic relationships with students and act as a trusted figure in their lives is essential.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience in SEN teaching is essential, particularly working with children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and trauma-informed approaches.
* Confident teaching Key Stage 3+4 Science.
* Flexible, adaptable, and positive, with a strong sense of empathy and emotional intelligence.
* Able to maintain a positive mindset and language, even when faced with challenges.
* A sense of humour is highly valued We believe that laughter helps build trust and connection with students.
* Committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
* Capable of working with students who may be reluctant or anxious about education due to past experiences.
