About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Clinical Practitioner to join our team at Shropdoc, a leading provider of out-of-hours healthcare services in Shropshire and Powys. As a Clinical Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals of all ages, presenting with a range of undifferentiated diagnoses, complex needs, acute and chronic conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously and as part of a larger team to provide safe, holistic, and effective compassionate care provision.
  • Deliver telephone triage and home visiting services, utilizing critical thinking and advanced decision-making skills to assess, diagnose, and triage patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, paramedics, and nurses, to ensure seamless patient care and management.
  • Prescribe necessary medications, utilizing good antibiotic stewardship and sick day rules, with advice and authorization from GP colleagues when necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, development, and delivery of a high-quality and professional out-of-hours service.
Requirements
  • Relevant clinical experience in primary or urgent/emergency healthcare settings.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and make decisions without direct supervision.
  • Ability to take a comprehensive history, combined with a structured approach to physical assessment over the telephone.
  • Advanced decision-making skills, utilizing critical thinking and good judgment.
  • Prescribing qualification (desirable).
