Job Description

As an Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer at Biffa Waste Services Limited, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our operations. Your primary responsibility will be to perform electrical maintenance inspections and routine repairs across the site, minimizing downtime events on critical assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose running faults and implement effective repairs and improvements within the minimum time scale.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance practices, including plant upgrades and modifications to required standards.
  • Report all work carried out through our computerized maintenance management system.
  • Develop and implement a program of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimize downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting, and engineered solutions to these issues.
  • Anticipate machine failures and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence, reducing downtime to a minimum.
  • Ensure strict adherence to SHEQ standards and complete all related documentation.
  • Drive a culture of employee motivation and commitment, developing a contract team capable of exceeding contract targets.
  • Assist the maintenance department in identifying annual lifecycle requirements, preparing capital applications, and business case papers for non-lifecycle capital purchases.

Requirements:

  • Fitness and mobility to perform planned and reactive maintenance in enclosed/restricted spaces and working at height.
  • Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical bias multi-skilled engineering, with relevant qualifications (ONC/BTEC NVQ 3 discipline level, Elec Bias).
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulation qualifications.
  • Experience working on single and 3-phase AC and DC systems.
  • Waste processing equipment knowledge is desirable.
  • IT literacy and comfort using business software and systems.
  • Full UK car driving license and residence within a 20-mile radius of the site.
  • Experience in FMCG-type environments is advantageous.
