The Children's Head of Service will lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality services to care leavers, ensuring that all aspects of the service meet the needs of young people transitioning out of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of services, including frontline practice and work management.
  • Analyse data and forecast trends to inform service development and improvement.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver services and achieve shared goals.
  • Lead and manage change initiatives, considering options, assessing risk, and taking forward new initiatives.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring robust financial management arrangements and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Implement project management and operational activities to achieve service goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with national and local government context and policies affecting children's services.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including care leavers, families, and partner agencies.
  • Build and motivate a team, creating a positive environment that encourages open discussion, innovation, and professional development.
  • Set clear direction, objectives, and responsibilities, assuming accountability and inspiring others to act with integrity.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a recognised relevant professional qualification.
  • Direct social work management and supervision experience, with a social work professional qualification or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undergo appropriate training as required.
