Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd. As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting teachers in primary schools across Wakefield, driving academic achievement and student progress.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering high-quality education to students, with a focus on behaviour management, lesson planning, and collaboration with teachers.

About the Role
  • Provide support in KS1 and KS2 classrooms, working closely with teachers to develop engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Assist in lesson planning and delivery, utilising your expertise to develop interactive and challenging lessons.
  • Work with individuals and groups to reinforce learning concepts, fostering a love of learning and academic achievement.
  • Implement strategies for students with diverse needs, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social skills, emotional intelligence, and well-being.
  • Confidently manage challenging behaviour, using positive relationships and de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality education to students, focusing on behaviour management, lesson planning, and collaboration with teachers.
  • Develop and implement strategies for students with diverse needs, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social skills, emotional intelligence, and well-being.
  • Confidently manage challenging behaviour, using positive relationships and de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience as a Teaching Assistant in primary schools, with a strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers and support staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers to develop and deliver lesson plans, marking schemes, and assessments.
  • Understanding of educational policies and procedures, with the ability to implement them effectively.
  • DBS on the update service or willing to apply.
