Clinical Health Psychologist Leadership Role in Palliative and Cancer Services

As a key member of the Clinical Health Psychology Service, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that psychological perspectives are integrated across the service.
As a Clinical Health Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing highly specialist psychological assessments, risk assessments, and risk management plans for clients with complex conditions. You will also develop and implement highly specialist psychological therapies, negotiate treatment plans with clients and their carers, and provide leadership in multi-disciplinary training and development.

Job Responsibilities- Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to clients with highly complex and contentious mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
- To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
- In line with the banding of the post and its service context:
- Exercise supervisory/professional responsibility for other psychological therapists.
- Provide leadership in multi-disciplinary training and development.
- Provide leadership in service audit and development.
- Provide leadership in service evaluation and research.
We require a Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology. Additionally, you must have Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice and HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.
A minimum of experience of working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service, including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings, is essential. Evidence of continuing professional development and highly developed knowledge and skills in the care of difficult to treat groups, such as dual diagnoses, additional disabilities, or severely challenging behaviour, are desirable.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is estimated to be around £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
