Zest Education Ltd is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Primary Teaching Assistant to join a two-form entry school in Birmingham. This part-time role will commence in January 2025 and involve assisting a Year 6 class three days a week.

The ideal candidate will support the class teacher and motivate students in their classwork, preparing them for their next step in education. Key responsibilities include:

  • Aiding the classroom teacher in preparing lesson materials and displays.
  • Effectively working with students to ensure they understand the task or work.
  • Assisting students in acquiring the ability to learn independently.
  • Providing one-to-one support and small group support to children who require it.
  • Participating in school excursions, trips, and events.
  • Motivating students to participate in class activities and engage with the class.
  • Promoting good pupil conduct and encouraging students to take responsibility for their actions.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good understanding of the Key Stage curriculum and child development.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues/professionals.
  • A true passion and commitment to working with children and helping them achieve.
  • Experience in a similar role or in an educational setting is essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Good teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Zest Education Ltd is an REC audited agency dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years, and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

The salary for this position is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this role are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
