DXC Technology Inc. is seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in the north east of England.

About the Role:

This challenging position involves providing onsite IT infrastructure support across 2 large data centres in Wynyard and Doxford.

The successful candidate will require a driver's licence and own transport due to the travel between sites, as well as undergo SC clearance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Visually inspect status indicators on Customer Equipment and report status to the customer.
  2. Perform power-cycles of Customer Equipment according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  3. Conduct visual inspections of power and cabling connectivity.
  4. Inspect all cabling for proper seating according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  5. Test cable paths for conformance with performance standards according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  6. Connect Crash Carts (KVM) to assist diagnosis of failed reboots or power cycles according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  7. Mount media in identified drives as part of system builds or diagnosis according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  8. Activate hardware controls according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.
  9. Replace hot-swappable components according to detailed instructions provided by the customer.

Please note that the role does not involve logging on to or accessing any customer systems during interventions, despite any instructions to do so.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  2. Fluency in English (speaking, reading and writing). Fluency in the local language is also required.
  3. Strong loyalty to data and DC facility security.
  4. Basic understanding of IT operations in a big organization.
  5. Ability to work precisely and quality oriented.
  6. Maturity, high level of reliability, and sense of responsibility.
  7. Flexibility and willingness to cope with unexpected problems and situations.
  8. Generic media knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office environment, and general PC hardware.
  9. Basic understanding of server HW and networking.

We offer an estimated salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience.

Please find below the estimated breakdown of the salary: Base salary: £35,000; Allowances: £5,000.

A professional certification in a relative field or relevant industry experience would be highly beneficial.

A general technical orientation and basic understanding of structures and processes are also desirable.
