Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Production Lighting Technician to join our Technical, Production and Costume Department at the Royal Opera House. As a key member of our Lighting Department, you will be responsible for delivering artistic concepts and exceptional live performances while considering the impact of our work on the environment and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the smooth running of productions end-to-end, including rehearsals, performances, and fit-ups across a flexible weekly rota.
  • Develop and maintain a broad range of technical skills and understanding of the requirements of other technical teams and departments within a live performance environment.
  • Collaborate with the Lighting Department to deliver artistic concepts and exceptional live performances.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and best practice in relation to the role, such as Health and Safety, CDM2015, and BS7909.
  • Work independently and show initiative when problem-solving.

Requirements

  • A good level of technical experience in theatrical lighting, with previous work in a producing theatre highly regarded.
  • An understanding of legislation and best practice in relation to the role.
  • A broad range of technical skills and understanding of the requirements of other technical teams and departments within a live performance environment.
  • A collaborative spirit, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a technical team.
  • The ability to work independently and show initiative when problem-solving.
