About the Role

Cawood Scientific is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician Trainee to join our Field Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting routine environmental monitoring across our services and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine environmental monitoring in accordance with company protocols, quality assurance requirements, and client contract specifications.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of environmental control systems and client infrastructure.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our clients, building trust and long-term relationships.
  • Maintain a positive image of Cawood Scientific by keeping equipment, vehicles, and personal protective equipment clean and well-maintained.
  • Respect company equipment and vehicles, ensuring routine calibrations and maintenance are completed in line with company protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to build and maintain morale, offering help and assistance wherever possible.
  • Report any deviations from methods or non-conformances to Area Managers, Data Analysts, and Account Managers that could impact data integrity or data gaps.
  • Manage time efficiently, reviewing schedules and reporting to the Scheduling/Project Controller on ways to improve work processes.
  • Manage data accurately and in line with client/company requirements, reporting data to Data Analysts in a timely and correct format.
  • Ensure safety is a top priority in field work, reporting accidents and near misses to Area Managers and clients in line with company accreditation and policy.
  • Liaise with laboratories and couriers to ensure samples taken in the field are compliant.
  • Assist with on-site training of new employees, providing proactive support to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Perform routine company administration, including expenses and vehicle checks, on a monthly basis.

Requirements:

  • IT literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Passion and experience working outdoors, with the ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Proven track record in problem-solving and being proactive.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own time efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, even when working remotely.
  • Willingness to engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends, travel, and overnight stays.
  • Some experience in environmental monitoring is an advantage, but full training is provided.
