About the Role

Zumtobel, a leading manufacturer of electronics, is seeking a skilled Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team in Spennymoor. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production equipment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain our Preventive Maintenance (PM) system, ensuring that all team members follow established procedures.
  • Lead predictive maintenance projects to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to our team of technicians to achieve specific goals and objectives.
  • Assume a leadership role, managing a team of 8 technicians and providing coaching and feedback to ensure high performance.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, breakdowns, and malfunctions to minimize disruptions to our manufacturing processes.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program, tracking and analyzing data to identify recurring issues and optimize equipment performance.
  • Ensure all tools and repair equipment are in good working order, and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Support daily operations, including covering process technician shifts during absences to ensure planned maintenance is completed and production support is maintained.
  • Assess team performance, provide feedback, and support annual appraisals.
  • Act as Deputy Team Leader when required and participate in succession planning.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
  • Proven experience in people management, with a track record of achieving results through others.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • A self-motivated and solution-oriented individual who can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A practical problem-solver with a 'can-do' attitude, committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Understanding of quality and engineering processes, with a mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualification to HNC level being an advantage.
