Job Title: Driver's Mate

Blue Arrow is seeking a reliable and physically fit Driver's Mate to assist our drivers in the Inverness and Highland area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Driver's Mate. As a Driver's Mate, you will be responsible for assisting our drivers with loading and unloading goods, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of items, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist drivers with loading and unloading goods from vehicles.
  • Ensure all items are accounted for against delivery sheets.
  • Secure goods properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Plan routes and navigate, advising drivers on diversions.
  • Confirm delivery times with customers via telephone.
  • Help unload goods at the delivery point and place items as requested by customers.
  • Obtain delivery signatures and process payments if required.
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, especially when handling hazardous materials.
Requirements:
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy items.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license (optional, but beneficial).
Working Conditions:

May involve weekend work. Work can be physically demanding and may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
