Job Title: Net Zero Planning Engineer

At Northern Powergrid, we're committed to shaping the future of electricity distribution and achieving net zero. As a Net Zero Planning Engineer, you'll play a key role in our Regional Insights Team, working closely with stakeholders to develop a joined-up view of local authority and regional plans that impact our investment programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver enhanced external engagement to develop a comprehensive understanding of regional decarbonization plans and their impact on our investment programs.
  • Maximize the value of our investments through effective engagement and support the production of Local Area Energy Plans (LAEPs).
  • Ensure a two-way flow of data and intelligence on regional decarbonization with local authorities, housing authorities, and mass Low Carbon Technology (LCT) installers.
  • Check mutual compatibility of Local Authority and Northern Powergrid energy forecasts and explain differences.
  • Use local intelligence on regional decarbonization projects to enhance our investment forecasts and delivery.
  • Guide the enhancements in data and open analytics we provide through external dialogue.

Requirements:

  • Excellent technical knowledge, combined with a broader understanding of the industry, to ensure our network supports decarbonization in a smarter, more flexible way.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address the scale and pace of change facing our organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders from across the business and wider industry.
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to drive forward our analytical capability and data management.
  • Ability to build relationships and understand the needs of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of power system design and operation, as well as knowledge of electrical distribution equipment.
  • Full driving license is desirable.
