Clinical Psychologist for Young Onset Dementia and Memory Team

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Young Onset Dementia and Memory Team services. The successful candidate will provide a practitioner psychology service to the team and the community Memory Team service for Cardiff and the Vale.
Main Responsibilities
The post-holder will contribute to all parts of the dementia pathway, including neuropsychological assessments, post-diagnostic psychological therapy, and supporting care partners. They will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team colleagues, as well as with people living with dementia and their care partners.

What We Offer
We have a well-established framework for reflective, caseload, and peer supervision, as well as access to model-specific supervision. We also offer opportunities for CPD, including substantive training in Interpersonal Therapy and Open Dialogue Approach. Our CMHT psychologists work collaboratively across each locality to meet the needs of service users, and we encourage staff to develop specialist skills and interests.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a good Honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the BPS. They will also have post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by the HCPC, or be eligible to complete one by October 2024. In addition, they will have HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist, or be eligible by October 2024.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in applying clinical/counselling psychology in the NHS, including cognitive and structured assessment, formulation, intervention, research, and service development. They will also have experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working in NHS or equivalent, and be able to contribute to the development of, and implement, agreed policies and strategic long-term service developments.
Special Knowledge
The successful candidate will have doctoral level knowledge of clinical/counselling psychology theory and practice, assessment, psychological therapies, and their application. They will also have participation with CPD as recommended by the BPS.
