Job Title

Systems Support Analyst

Job Purpose

Deliver high-quality service support and maintain the group's systems and infrastructure, aligning with the organisation's strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement systems and requirements in-line with the IS strategy and key objectives.
  • Provide training and guidance to department members, end users, and new employees.
  • Develop and update system and software procedures, requirements, and changes.
  • Perform maintenance and backup functions for key systems, resolving diverse scope issues.
  • Conduct system testing to ensure efficiency and accuracy, using appropriate software tools.
  • Implement and maintain system security and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability across the network.
  • Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring system security and integrity.
  • Provide timely and accurate resolutions to challenging technical problems, representing the team in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide support through telephone and user visits, ensuring quick resolution of software and hardware problems.
  • Install, configure, support, troubleshoot, and document all infrastructure areas.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems for all supported platforms within the business.
  • Test, install, and configure new hardware and software solutions.
  • Log all calls into the service desk application for statistics and analysis.
  • Keep users informed of outstanding call status.
  • Perform 'ad-hoc' tasks to assist with system security and smooth running.
  • Carry out system checks in line with procedures.
  • Maintain department inventory and equipment specification files, logging system faults and liaising with users and suppliers.
  • Assist with departmental reports on a regular basis.
  • Provide weekly reviews of work completed, work in progress, and planned work to the Head of Information Systems and department members.
  • Undertake training as deemed appropriate within the department and through liaison with the Head of Information Systems.
Required Skills
  • Proven background working as a 2nd Line Support Analyst in a Service Desk environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience supporting Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory Network Services.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange.
  • Customer-focused with experience providing advice and guidance to customers.
  • Organised and methodical with the ability to work to targets and goals unsupervised.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated team player with a logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Patience and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Desirable Skills
  • SQL Server administration activities.
  • A sound working knowledge of IP Routing and VLAN configurations.
  • Strong understanding of secure firewall configurations.
  • Good working knowledge of VMware.
Additional Information
  • Location: North Leeds (onsite role).
  • Salary: £28k plus £3k for on-call (rota system 1 in 4/5 weeks all remote).
  • Holidays: 25 days holiday, increasing to 28 after 5 years full employment.
  • Pension contribution up to a matched 6%.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Home broadband payment for remote dial-in support.
  • Education: Commercial exposure required.
  • Qualifications: ITIL and/or MCSE desirable but not essential.
  • Great exposure to Enterprise level technology and full MS tech stack.
