About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a distinguished school in Essex. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, providing tailored one-on-one and small group support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored support: Work with students with diverse SEN needs, providing individualized support to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Assist in EHCP creation and implementation: Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop and implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents: Work closely with teachers and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN.
  • Support personal care and daily activities: Assist students with personal care and daily activities as needed, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Contribute to behaviour management: Work with the team to develop and implement behaviour management strategies that promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Develop and adapt learning resources: Create and adapt learning resources and activities to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that they are engaged and motivated.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a Teaching Assistant role or similar position with SEN students.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • SEN knowledge: Deep understanding of various SEN needs, including specific learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Patience and resilience: Patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to enhancing students' educational experiences.
  • DBS check: Enhanced DBS check required.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • SEN programs and interventions: Experience with specific SEN programs and interventions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Additional qualifications: Additional qualifications or training in areas such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Therapy, or similar areas.
