About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Cancer Support Worker - Reasonable Adjustments Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving the overall experience of cancer care at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW).

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and other stakeholders to scope current practices around reasonable adjustments, which will feed into the wider BNSSG Cancer Improved Collaborative projects. This role requires a passion for improving patient care and a commitment to reducing health inequalities.

Main Duties
  • Scope current practices around reasonable adjustments and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage a resource database to support people with cancer and their families.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to work across all elements of the cancer pathway.
  • Identify and escalate associated challenges to the project team.
  • Create and manage a patient tracker to identify those people affected by cancer who require reasonable adjustments.
  • Support the promotion of the accessible information standard (AIS, 2016) within UHBW.
  • Encourage the operationalisation of the AIS into cancer services.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with relevant health or social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have experience of multi-professional working, data management, and good communication skills. They will also have a strong understanding of person-centered cancer care and the health and social care environment.
