Job Purpose:As a Learning Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and overseeing a dedicated SENCO team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that pupils with SEND have the tailored support they need to thrive in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide targeted support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
- Oversee and support the SENCO team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality interventions.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with the SENCO.
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and the provision of necessary resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEND, adjusting strategies as needed to meet diverse learning needs.
- Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and school policies.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Previous experience working in a similar role, supporting children with SEND in a school setting (secondary level preferred).
- Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Experience overseeing or leading a team of SEND professionals or working closely with a SENCO team.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and external agencies.
- A passion for education and a commitment to helping every child succeed.
- Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
