Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Payroll Specialist to join our team at Croydon Council.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our payroll service, ensuring its efficiency and effectiveness. This role requires strong leadership skills, exceptional communication, and a comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation and systems, particularly Oracle Fusion.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the performance of a team, fostering a culture of improvement and best practice
  • Lead in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll service
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve processes and productivity
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex issues and provide high-quality services
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading teams to deliver excellence
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation and systems, particularly Oracle Fusion
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and legislation in a payroll context
  • Experience working with computerised payroll systems and proficient in MS office applications
  • Strong analytical and process design skills
Benefits

This is a permanent full-time position, 36 hours per week. We offer a competitive salary range, estimated to be £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer flexible working arrangements, support hybrid working, and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
