**Job Title:** Submarine Safety Expert
We are seeking an experienced Submarine Safety Expert to join our team in Barrow-In-Furness, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our submarine fleet. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile projects and make a real difference in the field of submarine safety.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in safety engineering, with experience in HAZID/HAZAN and risk assessment. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, from engineers to programme managers.
This is a permanent position, and we offer a competitive salary of £60,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including a pension scheme and annual leave allowance.
**Key Responsibilities:*
- Undertake HAZID/HAZAN as required throughout the safety lifecycle
- Contribute to the design of submarines in concept stages, and design modifications of mature and operational submarines to ensure safety from internal hazards
- Act as a subject matter expert for internal hazard safety at various design review meetings and as a design peer reviewer
- Develop safety case reports for multiple safety cases
- Undertake risk assessments and ALARP assessments
- Produce and peer review technical papers relating to safety analysis
- Liaise with a network of engineering stakeholders on safety matters
- Develop, produce, and maintain internal hazard safety processes and risk management strategies
**Essential Requirements:*
- Safety Engineering knowledge or experience gained from any of the following areas: systems safety, process safety, technical safety, product safety, nuclear safety or safety case
- Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline
