Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Curator (Collections) to join our team in the Africa, Oceania and the Americas department.
This is a fixed-term position for approximately one year, with the main purpose of assisting in digital repository maintenance and content upload.
You will support successful projects and grantees with relevant advice on anthropological, digital, and practical matters.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in managing data ingest to the EMKP repository, supporting grantees during asset preparation and checking submitted material for formatting and compliance.
- Responding to enquiries and offering advice to prospective applicants and grantees on material culture anthropology and research in Africa/Asia/Americas/Oceania.
- Supporting successful grantees in delivering documentation projects through regular communication, guidance, and advice, and keeping up-to-date records of progress.
- Assisting in disseminating EMKP and funded projects through public digital platforms, including maintaining the website, social media, etc., and developing original content under the guidance of senior Project Curators.
- Helping deliver grant-related events, specifically training, review meetings, and workshops, and managing logistical requirements, including budget and travel planning.
- Supporting grantees in accessing Museum assets relevant to their research and integrating results into Museum records.
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the EMKP programme.
- Reporting regularly to the Head of EMKP on progress.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A BA/BSc (or equivalent) in digital humanities, anthropology, archaeology, or a related field.
- Some familiarity with digital asset management and public dissemination.
- Experience working in a museum or library, particularly in digital collections.
- An open and effective communicator with good spoken and written English.
