The Role:
As a Maintenance Apprentice, you will work closely with our Facilities Team Leader and the wider Maintenance and Operations teams to perform a variety of essential maintenance tasks. Your responsibilities will include routine maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and supporting other departments to ensure the smooth operation of our site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a safe working environment by adhering to all relevant safety, health, and environmental practices.
- Act as a role model by promoting company values and maintaining a positive, ethical culture.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks according to the agreed schedule, documenting results, and reporting any anomalies.
- Respond promptly to breakdown conditions, minimizing downtime and ensuring quick recovery.
- Assist with maintenance activities across departments, ensuring high levels of plant integrity and availability.
- Collaborate with the line manager and Health & Safety Manager to agree on and deliver weekly work plans.
- Support the maintenance of the DCS fleet, ensuring vehicles are in roadworthy condition.
- Conduct inspections, complete repairs, and troubleshoot equipment, reporting findings and solutions.
- Assist with painting and other site maintenance tasks, adhering to the planned schedule.
- Ensure contractors comply with Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).
- Manage permits to work and complete fire watch duties according to established processes.
- Keep the compliance planner up to date and accurate.
- Provide technical expertise to the maintenance and operations teams.
- Offer support for new projects and initiatives.
- Work closely with the operations team to understand priorities and contribute to planning meetings.
- Identify and deliver innovative engineering solutions that enhance team objectives.
- Proactively suggest and implement areas for improvement.
- Ensure accurate monthly meter readings for gas, water, and electricity are reported to the Health & Safety Manager.

Qualifications:
- English & Maths GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
