Marine Radio Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

Transocean is seeking a skilled Marine Radio Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong understanding of radio communications equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain radio communication equipment to ensure seamless communication between the rig and shore-based teams.
  • Monitor and respond to emergency frequencies, including maritime and aeronautical emergency channels.
  • Maintain accurate records of all radio communications, including logs of telephone charges (if applicable).
  • Ensure the proper functioning of electronic navigational aids and perform routine tests on standby radio equipment and lifeboats.
  • Provide critical support during helicopter operations, including establishing and maintaining radio contact and advising pilots of landing clearances and meteorological conditions.
  • Participate in emergency drills and exercises, and respond to emergency situations as per assigned duties on the station bill.
  • Collaborate with other departments and third-party personnel to promote good working relationships and a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to the training and development of crew members to ensure they are competent in their roles.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant craft certificate.
  • Successful military discharge (preferable for U.S. applicants).
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in radio communications equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
