Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team at Merville Barracks, Colchester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering statutory, legislative, and mandatory maintenance on a client site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete risk assessments for maintenance tasks and work safely at all times.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and provide engineering expertise out of hours.
  • Manage a variety of reactive mechanical tasks and planned activities to meet service level agreement deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and best practice relating to the work being completed.
  • Escort mechanical specialist sub-contractors to deliver a high-quality professional service.
  • Undertake mechanical work in domestic, commercial, industrial, and minor works repairs and fault finding.
  • Be fully conversant with all aspects of mechanical systems.
  • Inspect, order materials, and complete tasked works in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with the help desk daily, scheduling works and completions.
  • Liaise with customers to arrange appointments, access, and discuss works.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
Requirements
  • People-friendly and customer service skills are essential.
  • A good awareness of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and your own legal obligations.
  • A good awareness of British Standards.
  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer accredited with City & Guilds Level 2.
  • Working knowledge/experience of building maintenance.
  • Able to work within a team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Held a full UK driving license for 2 years or more.
  • Must be over 25 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
