Aspens Services Ltd is a leading contract catering company specializing in school food. We combine our understanding of the education sector with our knowledge of food trends to create exciting and creative kitchen experiences for our teams, resulting in fantastic food experiences for children.

To support our rapid growth, we are seeking a Relief Chef Manager to join our team.

The Role

As the Relief Chef Manager, you will support the catering facility for schools in your region, focusing on operational and financial performance. Your goal will be to deliver the highest quality of food and service, showcasing your flair and originality to make our school catering offer one of the best in the area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, coach, train, and motivate kitchen teams
  • Support control of catering operations, including stock, food, and labor costs
  • Ensure consistency of food and service standards for students and staff
  • Drive sales through monthly promotions and added value events
  • Manage and improve controllable costs
  • Oversee menu development
  • Maintain company systems and procedures, and legislation
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure standards are met
About You

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for delivering exceptional food and service to our schools, with the following skills and experience:

  • OND or HND qualified (advantageous)
  • Driving license
  • Craft-based experience using fresh ingredients
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Financial understanding of gross profit management and achieving sales targets
  • Line management experience
  • Experience in a similar environment

  • 30 hours per week, with no late nights
  • Working 39 weeks per year, based around term time
  • £12.50 plus paid mileage
