Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, Adult Intensive Care

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Intensive Care Nurse to join our dynamic team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in providing leadership and direction to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team within Intensive Care.

The Leicester Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit is a fast-paced and energetic environment, with a diverse range of patients requiring emergency and elective care. Your role will involve providing expert clinical leadership, managing resources and information, and coordinating elective and emergency activity.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of working in critical care, ideally with 3 years' experience at Band 5 level. A period of supervision and structured training and support will be available, and we can offer a wide range of development opportunities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team within Intensive Care
  • Manage resources and information, and coordinate elective and emergency activity
  • Act as a professional and clinical role model to all staff, patients, carers, and the public
  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of evidence-based care to a group of patients
  • Contribute to setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care to the optimum level
Person Specification
  • Evidence of Post-registration Educational development
  • Critical Care Nursing Qualification (or working towards for secondment)
  • Clinical Leadership Programme
Requirements
  • Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise in critical care
  • Good understanding of clinical governance
  • Ability to effectively problem solve
  • Change management, team building, communication and organisational skills
