Job Introduction

BBC Product Engineering & Data Function is seeking a Portfolio Partner to collaborate with the Director, Product Engineering & Data and their leadership team. This role will involve working closely with a dynamic Engineering Leadership group to drive digital transformation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Product Engineering & Data in areas such as collaboration, culture, communication, and executive meetings.
  • Ensure good disciplines around resource planning, recruitment, and location strategy.
  • Lead projects on behalf of the Director, Product Engineering & Data, representing their position and ensuring deadlines and actions are met.
  • Act as a liaison between the Director, Product Engineering & Data and broader functions within and outside Product Group, including HR, Finance, Product Ops, Product Management, and Design, as well as the CTO function.
  • Take the lead on Cultural activities for the group, including meetups, developer days, hackathons, and workshops.
  • Build strong relationships with other functions within the Product Group, including the Product Leadership team, Transformation team, and UX leaders.
  • Where necessary, gather and present departmental reports, compiling and distributing as necessary.
  • Ensure the Product Engineering & Data leadership teams provide updates/reports in a timely fashion.
  • Be actively involved in projects and initiatives that improve function productivity and efficiency, Ways of Working, and performance management.
  • Act as liaison into Finance in respect of group budgets and finance processes.

Requirements

  • Experience working closely with or within the software development environment, with a strong understanding of the product engineering lifecycle and product development lifecycle, especially Agile methodologies.
  • Program/project management experience, able to demonstrate the ability to manage complex project outcomes and strong reporting.
  • Sophisticated stakeholder relationship management experience at a variety of levels, including at a senior level, demonstrating strong leadership experience within matrix relationships and delivery and programme/project management.
  • Strongly demonstrated strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organise, manage, and direct large teams in multiple departments.
  • Ability to analyse and compile a large amount of data and come up with conclusive results.
  • Ability to motivate and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
