About the Role

The Taranaki Regional Council is seeking a skilled GIS Specialist to join our Environment Services team. As a GIS Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the identification and mapping of wetlands in Taranaki.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Environment Services team, GIS team, and Taranaki Catchment Communities to support the identification and mapping of wetlands in Taranaki.
  • Visualise, question, analyse, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends.
  • Design, develop, and implement systems and databases to access and store geospatial data.

Requirements:

  • A strong customer relationship focus and well-rounded interpersonal skills.
  • A Tertiary qualification in Geography, Geospatial Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ESRI suite of products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Python, SQL, and FME.
  • Working knowledge of wetland ecology is advantageous but not essential.
