Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning and Development Administrator to join our team at R W Armstrong & Sons Limited. The successful candidate will contribute to the creation, delivery, and embedding of a Learning & Development strategy, working closely with leadership to identify training needs and create appropriate solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for Learning & Development, ideally in a construction environment, and experience of identifying training needs and creating training programmes. They will also have excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop a presence and reputation across the business to promote a learning agenda and a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Responsible for Learning and Development Strategy, identifying areas of need, and providing creative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Partner with all areas of the business to determine learning requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of a management development programme, utilising appropriate resources and grants/funding.
  • Responsible for implementation of the Appraisal process, including training, and ongoing development and monitoring.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing appropriate succession planning strategies.
  • Steer and take part in career development conversations across the business.
  • Identify and implement system for Career Ladders, including appropriate documentation and guidance.
  • Responsible for identifying/assessing CITB grant and funding opportunities, including the administration of claims.
  • Central point of contact for all Learning & Development enquiries.
  • Responsible for the booking and administration of ongoing statutory training requirements.
  • Provide coaching and support to line managers.
  • Delivery of internal training modules as and when required.
  • Development of an Apprenticeship and Graduate programme, including creation and maintenance of a mentoring scheme.
  • Accurate and timely reporting to Senior Leadership Team as required.
  • Working with the HR Team on creating appropriate performance development plans, as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors:
  • Previous experience and passion for Learning & Development, ideally in a construction environment.
  • Experience of identifying training needs and creating training programmes.
  • Experience of sourcing and assessing appropriate training providers.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – building effective relationships across the business.
  • Motivated self-starter, with good initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective decision-making skills, using appropriate data analysis.
  • Good understanding of HR legislation in a learning environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy levels.
  • Ability to identify and drive continuous improvement in the Learning & Development process.
  • Understanding of GDPR and the impact on the Learning & Development process.
