About the Job

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a Special Projects Accelerator. This exciting role will involve working with the Army's Future Force Development branch to accelerate the development and implementation of new technologies and capabilities.

As a Special Projects Accelerator, you will be responsible for commissioning and overseeing research and experimentation projects, working with military and civilian colleagues across the Ministry of Defence to bring new technologies into service. You will need to have excellent business writing skills, experience of working in a science and technology focused role, and the ability to represent sophisticated subjects concisely and accurately.

The ideal candidate will have a good standard of written English, experience of project sponsorship and requirements management, and excellent written communication skills. You will also need to be able to brief both verbally and in writing, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

The role is open to UK nationals only, and the successful candidate will be expected to work in a mixed military/civilian team, including contractors, in a fast-moving but supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission and oversee research and experimentation projects
• Work with military and civilian colleagues across the Ministry of Defence to bring new technologies into service
• Develop and maintain links between different Army HQ branches, Defence Equipment and Support, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, the Land Warfare Centre, and industry
• Assist with the planning of exploitation activity to rapidly mature selected technologies using commercial routes in partnership with these organisations
• Support collaboration with the US, Allied, and partner nations, ensuring interoperability and exploitation through burden sharing, or UK adoption of proven technology
• Contribute to the production of business cases

Requirements

• Experience of working in a science and technology focused role or organisation
• Excellent business writing skills
• Ability to represent sophisticated subjects concisely and accurately
• Good standard of written English
• Experience of project sponsorship and requirements management
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to brief both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
