We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Second Step, a leading mental health charity in the South West. As a key member of our Integrated Network Team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with moderate to high mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with clients, demonstrating empathy and understanding to help maximize their independence.
  • Conduct individual assessments to inform clients' recovery plans and support their journey towards wellbeing.
  • Support clients in using self-management tools, such as Wellness Recovery Action Plans, to promote their mental health and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines to provide a comprehensive support network for clients.
  • Navigate the system to connect clients with relevant services, including voluntary sector organizations and statutory services.

Person Specification

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health needs, complex needs, or multiple needs.
  • Proven experience in carrying out needs and risk assessments, as well as support planning.
  • Ability to work with individuals with competing needs and priorities.
  • Desirable: experience or knowledge of mental health issues and services, either as a user, carer, or supporter.
