About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at bigspark, a UK-based consultancy delivering next-level data platforms and solutions. This is a 6-month contract position, working on exciting technologies like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Machine Learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Java, Python, and ORM
  • Implement microservices architecture and build stateful, RESTful, pub/sub services
  • Work with event-driven architecture and technologies like Kafka, MQ, and Kubernetes
  • Collaborate on DevOps toolchain, including container registry, CI/CD, and metrics/logging/telemetry export
  • Develop expertise in AWS, including networking, load balancing, API gateway, and EKS/Fargate
Desirable Skills
  • IAC development using Terraform
  • Apache Airflow knowledge
  • Apache Spark and Databricks platform expertise
  • Apache Kafka expertise, including schema registry
  • Scala development experience
