As a Highways Network Engineer Apprentice at Telent Technology Services Ltd, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the UK's critical digital infrastructure. You will work on the full Strategic Road network, ensuring the smooth operation of the country's highways. Your responsibilities will include maintaining roadside cabinets, cable and termination, testing equipment on fibre and copper cable networks, and working with Optical Fibre. You will also support and learn how to test, repair, replace and re-configure the latest Telecoms equipment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. You will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration. Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair roadside cabinets, cable and termination
  • Test and configure equipment on fibre and copper cable networks
  • Work with Optical Fibre, including cable preparation, splicing, and OTDR testing
  • Support and learn how to test, repair, replace and re-configure the latest Telecoms equipment
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Telent Environmental, Health and Safety processes and policies

Requirements:

  • A-Level/Level 3 (or equivalent) IT related qualification
  • Full UK Driving licence (Essential)
  • Must be over the age of 18 by January 2025
  • Able to adhere to our Drugs & Alcohol policy and pass a pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol assessment

This apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration. On completion, you will gain a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification and have the opportunity to continue your career with Telent Technology Services Ltd.
