About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Biochemist to join our team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Medical Biochemistry, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive clinical biochemistry service for all users of the laboratory.

You will work collaboratively with the Consultant in Medical Biochemistry based at Frimley Park hospital and provide expert support for the diagnosis and management of biochemical clinical problems. You will also determine the repertoire provided by the clinical biochemistry department within the resources available.

The successful candidate will be based primarily at the Wexham Park Site and will join the current Clinical scientists in offering support to the general biochemistry services. In addition, you will be expected to provide a lipidology clinical service to the Trust.

Main Duties
  • Provide a comprehensive clinical biochemistry service for all users of the laboratory
  • Work collaboratively with the Consultant in Medical Biochemistry based at Frimley Park hospital
  • Provide expert support for the diagnosis and management of biochemical clinical problems
  • Determine the repertoire provided by the clinical biochemistry department within the resources available
Person Specification
  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) in Chemical Pathology or Chemical Pathology (Metabolic Medicine) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • FRCPath or equivalent
  • MRCP, MD, PhD or other higher degree
