The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our AHL Research Team as a Quantitative Researcher Intern. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a self-contained research project designed to have a real-world impact on our performance. You will be assigned a mentor to guide your research and will have regular opportunities to present your work to the wider research team and receive feedback and suggestions.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and develop trading strategies to contribute to our overall research effort.
- Collaborate with teams across the firm to contribute to our research and development efforts.
- Stay up-to-date with industry and academic literature to identify opportunities for innovation and suggest how we can profit from them.
- Apply quantitative techniques and market intuition to large, often novel or unconventional, datasets to cultivate areas of expertise.
- Contribute to the business' overall research effort by interacting with and collaborating with other research teams.
- Strong mathematical, statistical, or computing skills, with a degree in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics/Econometrics, Engineering, or Physics.
- A desire to learn and understand the structure and drivers of returns in financial markets.
- A demonstrable interest in algorithmic trading, financial derivatives, and markets in general.
- Independent research experience and practical coding experience in a scripting language such as Python.
- Awareness of statistical and mathematical tools and techniques and the ability to independently decide what is appropriate to use in which circumstances.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An entrepreneurial team player with the ability to push and discuss views with the rest of the team and contribute to our wider research agenda.
