About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with Special Educational Needs in a temporary capacity. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for the student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 care and support to the student with SEN, including those with physical or mental impairments, learning difficulties, ADHD, or ASD.
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and managing school equipment.
  • Record and report students' progress to the teacher.
  • Help students stay focused during class hours and support teachers in managing student behavior.
  • Work with students to improve core skills such as reading and writing.
  • Liaise with teachers and other support staff to ensure the student's needs are met.

Requirements

  • At least 40 days of experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
  • Genuine interest in working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable using computers and handheld devices.
  • Ability to work calmly and constructively under stress.
