Job Purpose

The purpose of this post is to undertake the role of the Community Mental Health Nurse, utilizing specialist clinical knowledge to inform decision-making and clinical judgment from initial assessment through to discharge. This involves providing specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the management of patient conditions, working in partnership with patients and carers to develop effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives.
  • Support the development of the service to improve practice and work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies.
  • Teach and supervise junior staff and students.

Requirements

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Working Hours

NHS Scotland is reducing its full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro-rata for part-time staff. You may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
