About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner to join our New Forest MHST team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering targeted support to children and young people, while also supporting the Whole School Approach work and networks around the young person.

Main Duties
  • Work with colleagues to provide better access to specialist mental health services and support referrals where required.
  • Support colleagues in education to identify and manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
  • Deliver low-intensity CBT-based interventions and collaborative working with young people and families.
  • Have experience of working with children and young people with mental health challenges and good knowledge and understanding of mental health issues in children and young people.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications include a qualification from CYP Low Intensity Training Course, supplemented by demonstrable experience working as a CWP with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced anxiety and/or depression, including face-to-face and remote/digital delivery of interventions.
  • Knowledge and skills of trauma-informed practice, critical awareness of alternative evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and experience of delivering psycho-educational groups in a community setting.
