About the Role

  1. In the event of a major incident or severe service disruption, serve as the tactical commander for incident management, directing control personnel and coordinating resource allocation.
  2. Oversee the safe delivery of daily train schedules during normal operations and disruptions, managing Very Short-Term Planning activities.
  3. Ensure the safety of line incidents in accordance with safety standards and statutory requirements.
  4. Lead the dissemination of safety-critical information to the control team, implementing a system for recording operational safety and performance incident data.
  5. Support incident reviews, considering customer needs, Network Rail positions, and train operator perspectives.
  6. Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational policies and procedures related to train service delivery, control, and line management.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience leading teams within control, logistics, or operations environments.
  • Familiarity with Network Rail and Train Operating Companies within the Route and their key business aspects.
  • Knowledge of Train Operator performance targets and regime.
  • Line management experience.
