Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Consultant to join our Consultancy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing cost engineering services to clients in the defence sector, national government bodies, international institutions, and global prime contractors.

This role involves delivering technical consulting projects, building new relationships, and maintaining existing customer connections. As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will work autonomously within customer teams to support business cases with analytical thinking and outcomes, modelling procurement and in-service costs, or leading workshops with customers and Subject Matter Experts to improve accuracy and understanding of project costs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical consulting projects to meet client needs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers
  • Work independently within customer teams to deliver rapid turn-around analysis
Essential Requirements
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for developing cost models aligned with JSP 507 / JSP 655 guidelines
  • Knowledge of Investment Appraisals, Trade Studies, Business Cases, and Cost Benefit Analysis for stage gate approvals
  • Experience in Independent Cost Estimating using methods such as bottom-up, analogous, and parametric techniques for hardware and software systems
  • Cost / Schedule Risk Analysis and knowledge of quantitative assessment of uncertainty and risk assessment
  • Independent Verification and Validation audit against 3rd party supplied cost models
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICEAA, ACostE) and a commitment to further professional development
  • Knowledge and application of Visual Basic
  • Experience as a cost management consultant in MOD, business, and safety-critical programmes or public sector project environments
  • Application of Risk tools such as @Risk and SEER-H
Benefits and Remuneration

The salary range for this position is £55,000 to £85,000 per annum, negotiable, plus benefits including bonus, medical insurance, pension scheme, and opportunities for career development.
