We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Midwife to join our team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Midwife, you will be responsible for providing safe, clinically effective, and individualized care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care.
- Be responsible for the organization of midwifery care for patients assigned to you.
- Utilize the full skills of a midwife practitioner to a named caseload of women.
- Discuss with the Ward Manager/Team Leader development and changes that affect patients directly and indirectly.
- Provide care to bereaved patients and their relatives, breaking bad news and supporting other staff undergoing this process.
- Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary professionals and agencies, ensuring seamless care at a high standard.
- Take appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, including the delegation of patient care to midwives with the appropriate level of skill at all times.
- Report any accidents/incidents to the Ward Manager/Team Leader and/or Supervisor of Midwives.
- Ensure that midwifery procedures/guidelines are implemented and maintained in accordance with the policies of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and national guidance.
- Ensure that acceptable standards of care are maintained and, where necessary, instigate changes in agreement with the Ward Manager/Team Leader.
- Be fully conversant in dealing with complex midwifery problems such as child protection issues.
- Current, effective, and up-to-date registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Proven experience in all areas of midwifery practice.
- Proven experience of delegation of workload when looking after a caseload.
- Ability to travel.
- Current/pending UK NMC registration.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and movement tasks.
- Flexible approach to working: prepared and able to work variable shift patterns, early, late, night shifts, over 7 days of the week.
- Awareness of self-presentation to patients and relatives.
- Understanding of the organization's values.
