Job Title: Construction Cost Manager - Renewable Energy

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Cost Manager to join our team at Qair UK. As a leading player in the renewable energy industry, we require an expert who can manage all aspects of construction costs for our wind, solar, and BESS projects.

About the Role:

  • Preparation of detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices and terms.
  • Effective management of project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs.
  • Maintenance of accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and financial transactions.
  • Providing expert advice on procurement, risk management, and cost-saving measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding client requirements and preparing work packages as required.
  • Preparing bills of quantities from design drawings and specifications.
  • Identifying gaps between bills of quantities and drawings, specifications, and conditions of the contract and addressing any anomalies.
  • Monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Participation in pre-tendering activities with clients and project managers, including prequalification and tendering processes.
  • Management of valuation of work done and handling claims and variations.
  • Preparation of interim and final valuations, variations, and claims of the construction site.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to optimise project outcomes and achieve value for money.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost consulting, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
  • Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects.
  • Understanding of general contracting, design-build, package contracting.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from given drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying.
