Are you a seasoned Biodegradation expert with a passion for delivering exceptional scientific services?

We are seeking a Senior Biodegradation Specialist to join our esteemed Environmental Sciences team at Labcorp, a leading player in the field.

Located at our Alconbury site near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, this exciting role offers the chance to lead and deliver top-notch services to our clients and stakeholders while working in a hybrid/remote environment with occasional travel to our primary site.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing strategic scientific leadership in delivering innovative solutions to internal and external customers.

You will work closely with Operational Leaders to ensure that Biodegradation studies are conducted and reported to the highest scientific standards, compliant with GLP, A(SP)A, and HSE regulations, and within agreed timelines.

Your primary interface will be between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory, Sales, and Marketing teams, fostering collaboration and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of the competitive marketplace for Biodegradation services, including commercial and service expectations.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of scientific developments to maintain our Biodegradation services at the forefront of the industry.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of technical, scientific, and regulatory developments related to Biodegradation services, including regular literature reviews and attendance at expert meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to maintain and develop our Biodegradation reputation with clients.
  • Utilize your expertise to network with other Labcorp teams, providing training and advice to resolve technical issues and support the delivery of high-quality scientific products for our customers.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with existing and potential external customers to promote and develop our expertise and services in Biodegradation.
  • Work with Sales at on-site and off-site meetings to support customer needs and maintain and develop our Biodegradation customer base.
  • Contribute to ensuring our Biodegradation business has a strong external and internal scientific profile, including participating in Biodegradation conferences and events.
  • Elevate Labcorp's scientific standing by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific meetings.
  • Provide robust scientific judgment on study data interpretation and its impact on conclusions for reporting or subsequent studies.
  • Develop proposals for bespoke/unusual studies and programs of work, leading the scientific review and design while contributing to accurate and prompt pricing, and overseeing project delivery to ensure scientific integrity, quality, and timeliness.
  • Ensure the 'best science' is provided to customers.
  • Review study data and support scientific staff in interpreting and communicating results to our customers.
  • Be an advocate for best practice and change to improve the product for the client.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc in Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in Biodegradation with in-depth scientific and regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong communication, networking, and negotiating skills.
  • Objective and logical analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Good commercial and business awareness.
  • Proven project management and customer liaison skills.
