Job Summary

We are seeking an Associate to join our London Commercial Disputes team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on high-quality matters, develop their skills, and learn from experienced partners and senior lawyers. The team's continued success creates real opportunities for merit-based promotion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of your workload and support the team in delivering a high standard of work in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate legal matters from initiation to closure.
  • Proactively drive financial hygiene by guiding fee earners, partners, and secretaries on the billing of WIP/disbursements and client debt status.
  • Provide a first-class client service to both the client and all key stakeholders across the Eversheds-Sutherland network.
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to drive efficiencies.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical skills and legal analysis.
  • A Finance (AP/Billing/Revenue Control) background would be preferred but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • Excellent academic qualifications from a reputable training institution.
  • Extensive experience of English court procedures and preferably also international arbitration.
  • Ability to analyse complex factual situations and distil the key issues clearly and concisely.
  • Experience of providing first-rate client service.
  • Exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work.
  • Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients.
