Senior Buyer - Engineering Sector

DMR Personnel Ltd is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical procurement and a proven track record of delivering results in a project-based manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing technical procurement activities, leading supplier selection and development initiatives, and applying a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical processes to effectively engage with suppliers and assess technical requirements.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure quality, delivery, and cost considerations are met.
  • Lead supplier selection and development initiatives, evaluating potential suppliers based on criteria such as quality standards, delivery capabilities, and cost competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities with production planning and management.
  • Compile and analyze price and delivery requests to suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor actual costs against costing documents to ensure job budgets are complied with, and communicate any discrepancies to the Project Managers.
  • Communicate with all interested parties to update on supply status and ensure that all materials are available in line with the agreed manufacturing program.
  • Identify new vendors, supply methods, and system improvements to assist the company's purchasing and stock control processes.
  • Contribute towards and assist in the implementation of new Supply Chain processes.
  • Contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of Procurement guides and procedures.
  • Deputize as part of the management structure of the company if the Procurement Manager is unavailable.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a manufacturing-based purchasing role.
  • A broad understanding of mechanical and electrical processes.
  • Competence when interpreting engineering CAD drawings.
  • Flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
