We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fantastic college in Yeovil. The college supports students aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs, including complex learning difficulties, communication difficulties, and SEMH.

The successful candidate will work closely with tutors to follow session plans and schemes of work within education, reporting on student progress to inform future planning. They will also develop learning resources tailored to meet students' communication needs and liaise with education, care, and clinical staff to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting student outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing strategies from students' Positive Behaviour Support Plan, Communication Plan, and Sensory Diet to provide support for students to engage effectively in learning.
  • Working closely with tutors to follow session plans and schemes of work within education, reporting on student progress to inform future planning.
  • Developing learning resources tailored to meet students' communication needs.
  • Liaising with education, care, and clinical staff to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting student outcomes.
  • Supporting students to engage in enrichment activities, including accessing local leisure facilities or day trips across Somerset.
