A career-defining opportunity has emerged in London for a Principal Transport Planner to spearhead the development of innovative, sustainable transportation solutions across major UK cities, working with esteemed councils like Westminster, Leeds City, and the West of England Combined Authority.

As a key member of a dynamic team focused on creating active travel schemes, urban spaces, traffic reduction, public transport, and more, you will be responsible for managing projects as Project Manager, collaborating closely with clients, and leading a team of transport planners to deliver exceptional results.

You will join a prominent tier one multi-disciplinary firm in Central London, bringing your expertise to a dedicated Transport team of over 160 professionals who share your passion for driving change and promoting sustainability.

Principal Transport Planner Daily Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients to craft tailored sustainable transport strategies that meet their specific needs.
  • Serve as Project Manager for various initiatives while fostering relationships with clients, particularly Westminster City Council.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Transport Planners and Graduates, providing guidance and support to ensure success.
  • Develop and review reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates, and other essential documents in accordance with local regulations.
  • Oversee project financial performance, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Conduct technical reviews and checks of design deliverables within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the UK to achieve shared objectives.
Principal Transport Planner Requirements
  • Civil engineering, transport planning degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIHT or ICE.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals effectively.
  • Significant experience in transport, road safety, or highway engineering.
  • Proven capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders, including public sector officials, members of the public, and senior colleagues.

We are offering a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, to attract a talented individual who can drive our mission forward.
