Bespoke Classic Car Projects - Mechanical Design Engineer

We are working with specialists in bespoke classic and vintage car projects, supporting them in appointing an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.

While previous automotive experience is not required, the business can consider a Mechanical Engineering background from other industry sectors with exposure to complex components and engineering systems, such as aerospace, rail, marine, or other complex manufacturing sectors.

The role involves working on bespoke and custom engineering projects for the restoration and manufacturing of classic car parts, components, and assemblies/fixings. Project work may include mechanical systems layout, replacement clutches, drive trains, gearboxes, and more.

The design package used is Solidworks, and while they would consider candidates with other 3D CAD packages, significant engineering or automotive experience is a plus.

The business is open to candidates with mid-level to senior engineering experience and is based full-time on their Waterlooville site, with a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop bespoke mechanical systems for classic car projects
  • Work on custom engineering projects for the restoration and manufacturing of classic car parts and components
  • Collaborate with specialists in bespoke classic and vintage car projects
  • Use Solidworks and other 3D CAD packages to design and develop mechanical systems

Requirements:

  • Experience in mechanical design and engineering
  • Knowledge of Solidworks and other 3D CAD packages
  • Ability to work on bespoke and custom engineering projects
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
