Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydraulic Engineering Manager to lead the provision of multidisciplinary engineering services to support and advise the County Business Team on engineering matters in relation to the asset planning, development, operation, maintenance, and optimisation of all assets for a specific county.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the County Business Manager goals, plans, and priorities, and translate these into a forward-looking portfolio plan of engineering activities and resource requirements that will meet overall delivery needs.
  • Lead and inspire the federated Engineering and operational teams to maintain and develop the organisational culture, values, and the company reputation to ensure delivery of the UU vision.
  • Manage the relationships with the County Management team, providing a single point of contact for the provision of technical and engineering services and any requiring escalation to Engineering function.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities to reduce operating costs and mitigate risks associated with health and safety, regulatory compliance, and serviceability.

Requirements

  • Significant leadership and people management skills and an ability to build, and develop high performing teams with a proven track record in multi-functional Engineering management.
  • Resilience and ability to cope with pressure and demands of managing several multi-disciplinary engineering teams, concurrently within large programmes of capital works and supporting operational and maintenance activities.
  • Commercially aware, risk, cost, and quality focused, with sound knowledge of the wider business and regulatory environment to ensure optimisation of the whole life cost of asset ownership.
