Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom Triple West Medical Full time

Established in the East of England, our esteemed NHS Teaching Hospital is recruiting two seasoned Consultants in Geriatric Medicine for a substantive or fixed-term position. We are partnering with them to identify suitable candidates.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust as they undertake a comprehensive reconfiguration of services for unscheduled care, involving further development of their 'front door multidisciplinary frailty service'. A key project currently underway includes the establishment of a Frailty Assessment Unit to facilitate patient management through the Trust. The forward vision focuses on developing this service into a seven-day-a-week provision. The service also aims to explore and develop dedicated services within Older People's Medicine such as a falls clinic, fracture liaison service (FLS), and a comprehensive geriatric assessment based clinic.

The successful appointee will be responsible for various duties, including:

  • Contributing to the development of the Geriatric Medicine service.
  • Providing mutual out-of-hours cover for General Internal Medicine alongside other Consultants and covering annual, study, and professional leave.
  • Offering consultation and advisory services to medical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust.
  • Liaising with medical staff in other specialties and participating in regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities of the hospital.
  • Participating in the continuing medical education program, with the Trust providing study leave expenses according to national terms and conditions of service.
  • Acting as an educational supervisor and engaging in regular appraisal and assessment of doctors in training or equivalent posts under their responsibility.

One of these positions is ideal for either new Consultants or Specialty Doctors looking to transition to a Consultant role or senior Consultants seeking a department with a dedicated COE ward, a strong OPM team, and excellent leadership. This opportunity offers full support from the Trust to develop the service.

Our client's location provides an exceptional quality of life, with high-quality housing and schools, a thriving arts scene, excellent transport links, and easy access to beautiful coastal areas.

We offer:

  • A unique development opportunity to reshape Older People's Medicine services.
  • A modern teaching hospital.
  • A brand-new hospital planned for construction within the next 5 years.
  • A flexible job plan can be tailored to meet the needs of the successful appointee.

Benefits include:

  • A retention and relocation package up to £40K, subject to certain conditions being met.
  • Full leadership training and development support.

This is a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine vacancy. If you have experience in this field, we invite you to apply.
